In a concise and precise reflective paper, discuss the narrative structure of the film No Country for Old Men. In your response think about how this film falls or not into the classical paradigm. In your analysis take into account the cause and effect of the plot, the space and the time. In analyzing a film’s narrative structure, you should ask yourself some basic questions. Who’s telling the story? A voice-over narrator? Why him or her? Or does the story “tell it-self? Who is the implied narrator of such stories, the guiding hand in the arrangement of the narrative’s separate parts? How is the time presented: chronologically or subjectively rearranged through flashbacks and other narrative disjunctions? Is the narrative realistic or formalistic? What genre, if any? What does the movie say about the social context and period that it was made in? What do we as spectators supply to the story? What information do we provide to fill in the narrative’s gaps?

Remember, your paper should have an introduction—in which you state your reflexive paper’s thesis— as well as a solid conclusion.

Structure and Format of Essays

I. Introduction
